Rooney Out - Carroll In?

05 September 2010 13:58
The Wayne Rooney allegations continue, but the FA insist (despite what we read in todays newspapers) that the Man Utd striker WILL be involved in the squad to play Switzerland on Tuesday ... ... and Andy Carroll has NOT got the call to replace him. Can it really be true? Let's admit it, Wayne Rooney has got previous, and The News Od The World are very very careful that everything they print in an 'exclusive' is backed up and such a story like this must be water tight. This is the newspaper that takes delight in ruining people's lives, and there has been no denial from Rooney. Just like John Terry, Peter Crouch and Ashley Cole, he has kept quiet and not denied a thing after allegations about his personal life have been published. The News Od The World version has the prostitute recall an occasion last summer when she was stood in the smoking section outside a party when Cristiano Ronaldo walked past and Rooney called him a “wanker”. It's all interesting stuff, and could we see a late call up for Andy Carroll? The Geordie striker is high profile these days after the hat-trick against Aston Villa, and he admits he will be ready when that call from Capello comes. While the international crisis surrounding the Three Lions team was eased with the 4-0 win over Bulgaria, Carroll knows his chance could come sooner rather than later. Carroll: “Getting the No 9 shirt has been great, but no matter what number I wear I want to get the goals I know I can score. I just get on with the job. “Almost everybody is still there as far as England strikers are concerned. “All I can do is keep showing what I can do at Newcastle, hopefully it will be enough to get my chance. “That is all my aim should be, and I will just continue to do what I am doing.”
