Redknapp backs Shearer to succeed in the Newcastle mission that the Spurs boss turned down

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is confident that Newcastle will survive relegation from the Barclays Premier League. Tottenham take on Newcastle at Sunday lunchtime in a game that has more significance for their visitors than themselves. The Magpies are mired in the drop zone while Spurs have a slim chance of European qualification. Newcastle manager Alan Shearer has already stated bluntly: 'We cannot afford to lose any games.' But Redknapp, who was 'very close' to joining Newcastle earlier in the season, believes they would be fine. 'I don't regret going up there but it's a great club,' he said. 'I still think they are going to get out of it. They have three home games they can win.
