Ranger Short Of The 'Cruyff Touch'

Johan Cruyff once said: "'Total football' is 'One Touch' football. When players don't need to control the ball - they act on their initial reactions." And Nile Ranger will be off out to buy the video. Ranger went clean through with the scores locked at 0-0 and went round Wojciech Szczesny - but stopped to make that crucial first touch to stop and think what to do next - giving Laurent Koscielny time to make the block. Ranger: “It was a good ball from Danny, and I got on to it. "I didn’t know the keeper was going to come out. He went down but I didn’t feel him connect, and as I’ve knocked the ball, it got stuck under my feet and went behind me. “It was bad luck. “We conceded in the last minute of the first half – it was a sloppy goal. I didn’t think we deserved it after the way we'd played in the first half. “It’s Arsenal – you can’t really let them score. That’s it – they keep the ball. “Our heads went down. “It was a foul on Willo, but the linesman didn’t give it. It wasn’t offside, it was the foul. “He’s blocked him off. "You can’t complain now, it's finished but it made a difference. “They keep the ball for fun. "To concede the goal a minute before half-time killed us. “We worked hard, and I didn’t think we deserved to lose 4-0. “It’s how it goes – that’s football. "Arsenal are one of the best teams in the world, and we did all right. “I was an Arsenal fan as a youngster, so it was an amazing feeling to play against the team you supported as a boy."
