Ranger aims for regular role

Teenage Newcastle striker Nile Ranger is aiming to become Andy Carroll's regular partner up front this season. The 19-year-old is hoping to convince new manager Alan Pardew of his worth after being consigned to a substitutes role under former boss Chris Hughton. Ranger did his hopes no harm after impressing off the bench in the 3-1 win over Liverpool and, although he is yet to make a start in the Premier League this term, believes he could form a dangerous partnership with Carroll. "It would be a dream to partner Andy on a regular basis - it's something that could really work," Ranger told Chronicle Live. "We understand each other's game because we have played a lot of times together. The more we get to play together, the more experience we'll gain and the better we can become. It's an exciting partnership."
