Pulis hails Shearer move

Stoke boss Tony Pulis believes Alan Shearer's appointment at Newcastle will provide a massive boost for their relegation rivals.[LNB] Shearer was confirmed as St James' Park boss until the end of the season on Wednesday as Joe Kinnear continues his recovery from heart surgery.[LNB]Newcastle and Stoke find themselves involved in the battle to avoid the drop with the Magpies currently sitting third from bottom two points adrift of safety.[LNB]Pulis believes Shearer's return will help unite everyone at the club at such a crucial stage of the season.[LNB]"I think it is great appointment for Newcastle," Pulis told Sky Sports News."I think the club, looking from the outside, has been a little fragmented.[LNB]"When you have got people from down South running a club up in the North East then that's got be a difficult situation.[LNB]"So Alan going in there, he is a legend up there, it is almost like the (Kevin) Keegan factor in lots of respects.[LNB]"For the football club it will bring everybody together, it will unite everybody and certainly outside the football club and on the terraces.[LNB]"I think it is a great move for Newcastle and it is up to him [Shearer] to get on with it."[LNB]
