PSV Defender Heading To Toon!
PSV Eindhoven defender Erik Pieters has confirmed he expects to join Newcastle before the close of the transfer window. Alan Pardew sees him as the ideal replacement for Jose Enrique following the Spaniard's switch to Liverpool. The Magpies are reported to have agreed a fee with PSV for Pieters and the 23-year-old has admitted his appearance in Thursday's Europa League win over SV Ried may have been his swansong at the Dutch club. Erik Pieters: "If a club from the Premier League says they want you, and that is the case, then you know the financial means they have. "Whether I play for PSV at Excelsior on Sunday or am already at Newcastle I do not know. "I have not seen much of Newcastle myself but my friend (and fellow Dutchman) Tim Krul keeps me informed."
