Pre-Season Trip To France For Toon Players

15 July 2013 09:57
United could make a pre-season visit to French club Lille.

Newcastle – who kick off their warm-up programme at Motherwell tomorrow night (7pm kick-off) – signed Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy from Lille, who moved to a brand-new 50,000 stadium, the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, a year ago.

And there are good relations between the two clubs.

It is not yet clear when the clubs hope to stage the proposed game.

However, United are without a game on the first weekend of August.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew takes his team to Portugal for a week on Wednesday.

United – who will be based at Braga’s training complex – play Rio Ave on Saturday and Pacos de Ferreira on July 23.

The first friendly in England is the July 28 (3pm) visit to Championship club Blackpool, who, like Newcastle, are sponsored by loan firm Wonga.
