Mick Quinn: “I always felt that Newcastle needed to build on the squad they had.
"It isn’t rocket science but two or three additions were always going to be required in my eyes if Newcastle wanted to improve on last term.
“I know they brought in some fringe players, but Vurnon Anita is the only senior signing.
“And now with the injuries tallying up, the squad is being tested.
“I don’t know if Mike Ashley has money to inject in January, but if he wants to see United kick on, he has little choice but to buy fresh blood in my opinion.”
