Mick Quinn: “I don’t know why Brendan Rodgers has taken the stance he has on Carroll.
“For some reason he doesn’t seem to want him. What is he doing?
“It’s hard when a player doesn’t really get a chance from the word go when a new manager comes in.
“Usually everybody gets their chance under a new manager, but that hasn’t been the case for Carroll.
“He had a good Euros for England, and he had a good end to the season with Liverpool. It is totally baffling.
“As a Liverpool follower I’d just like to know what Brendan Rodgers is doing.”
