No thanks: Peter Taylor is staying at Bradford City[LNB]Bradford manager Peter Taylor has turned down the chance to become Alan Pardew's assistant at Newcastle.[LNB]Pardew has been working without a No 2 after succeeding Chris Hughton at St James' Park last month and had earmarked the experienced Taylor for the role.[LNB]However, the former England Under-21 boss has opted to remain at Bradford.[LNB]Taylor said: 'I was flattered to be asked by Alan Pardew to be his assistant at such a huge club like Newcastle United. It is something I have always said I would be interested in one day.[LNB]'I have a lot of respect for Alan and for Newcastle United, who are a magnificent club, but I just really didn't want to break my commitment here at Bradford. At present, I am contracted here until the end of the season and I didn't want to walk away from that any earlier.[LNB]'I believe in what we are trying to achieve here. We have started the new year in a good vein of form and it's up to us to keep that going. I would like to wish Alan and Newcastle all the very best for the remainder of the season, but now we must focus on ourselves.'[LNB]Pardew has been working without an assistant since succeeding Chris Hughton on Tyneside last month and he will now have to look elsewhere after missing out on the experienced Taylor, who counts Leicester, Hull, Wycombe and Gillingham among his former clubs.[LNB]Former Charlton and West Ham boss Pardew has managed to complete the rest of his back-room team after promoting Steve Stone and Willie Donachie and bringing Andy Woodman in as his goalkeeping coach.[LNB]Watford manager Malky Mackay and Leicester coach Chris Powell are reported to have already turned down the chance to be Pardew's No 2.end[LNB]Bantams joint-chairman Mark Lawn told the Yorkshire Post: 'Newcastle approached us between Christmas and New Year and we subsequently agreed compensation for the remainder of Peter's contract.[LNB]'But since then Peter has indicated he wants to stay and we hope that is the end of it.'[LNB]Bradford are 10th in npower League Two and beat Bury 1-0 on Monday. There has since been speculation Newcastle may make a second approach for Taylor, but Lawn believes he will stick to his word and stay at Valley Parade.[LNB]'I have been in football for four years so nothing shocks me anymore,' added Lawn on Sky Sports News.[LNB]'All I can do is take the word of Peter and I have been told he wants to stay and therefore I think that is what he is going to do, he's a very honest man. In all our dealings he has been very straight. [LNB]'We're now talking to him about the future so it looks to me we're moving forward with Peter Taylor as our manager.'[LNB][LNB][LNB][LNB] [LNB]  Explore more:People: Peter Taylor, Chris Hughton Places: Newcastle, United Kingdom
