Perhaps Enrique Is Fooling Himself

Jose Enrique says some of those who left the club might be having second thoughts after Newcastle's success this term. But ... I wonder. Habib Beye's Villa are heading to Europe next season; Sebastien Bassong's Spurs look bound for the Champions League; Damien Duff is heading for the final of the Europa Cup; Michael Owen won a League Cup winners medal at Man Utd; Charles N'Zogbia is Wigan's star of the season; and Obafemi Martins has tasted Champions League stardom. I'm sad to admit it ... but the buggers seem to have done OK for themselves. Jose Enrique: "I spoke to Habib Beye after I'd scored against Nottingham Forest, and he was happy for me. "The players who played here and left will still be happy for us and the club. They still talk about how great the fans are here. "Maybe they're a little bit sad, because they left and they've seen what we've achieved, and many players would want to be part of this. "They always say how different life is in Newcastle, and all the players who come here like it. It's a great city, and maybe they want to come back! "We'll see them next season when they come back to play, and I hope we win!"
