Perch Ruled Out Of Wolves Fixture

Forgotten defender James Perch gave us a reminder that he is still about ... well ... sort of. Voted in our poll the 'Worst Player Of The Season' (by a country mile), we will have to get by without him when we face Wolves. Newcastle reserves slipped to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Manchester United and Perch and received a red card in the latter stages of the first half for scrapping with Manchester United youngster Ravel Morrison. Perch, who is now set to be unavailable for the first-team game with Wolves on April 2, appeared to shove Morrison after being kicked by the Manchester United midfielder. Gabriel Obertan's second-half double secured a deserved victory for a youthful Manchester United side. Newcastle pulled a goal back with four minutes left when Michael Richardson converted a left-wing cross. Steven Taylor appeared for the first 45 minutes to press his claims for a senior recall, while Tim Krul and Shefki Kuqi were also involved. NEWCASTLE: Krul, Leadbitter, Perch, McDermott (Nzuzi 69), S Taylor (Streete 46), Henderson, Richardson, Inman, Kuqi (McLaughlin 55), Airey, Sam Ameobi.
