A Newcastle XI beat Cambridge United 2-1 in a friendly at the Abbey Stadium last night.
Romain Amalfitano and James Tavernier were on target for Willie Donachie’s side in the friendly, arranged as part of the Conference Premier club’s centenary celebrations.
Peter Beardsley, Newcastle’s football development manager, appeared for both teams, at the age of 52, in front of a 1,502.
