Pardew Works On Set-Pieces

Ryan Taylor says Alan Pardew has reviewed Newcastle's approach to dead-ball siuations, to add variety. Whereas last season Joey Barton took almost all Newcastle’s set pieces, the presence of Ryan Taylor and Yohan Cabaye has added variety. Ryan Taylor: “All of us have our specific jobs with set pieces and in and around the edge of the box and if it’s in a certain area I will take it. “I always fancy myself from outside the box. “It has been a tough start. “To get through the game against Arsenal in an unfamiliar position was tough. You don’t play against world-class players like Gervinho and (Andrey) Arshavin week in, week out. “But it went well last week. We ground out a result and it shows what team spirit we have. “We hung on against Sunderland when they finished with four strikers on the pitch. It was such a great moment and a great day for the fans. "There is talk of Erik Pieters signing. “That is great, I welcome competition. “If we had one in before the Arsenal game I might not have been playing but I will keep doing my best. “Even though left-back is not my natural position I will always put in a performance to stay on the pitch.”
