Pardew: 'We Tracked Hazard'

Chelsea have spent £77m so far this summer following the capture of Wigan's Victor Moses.

Eden Hazard, the £32m buy from Lille, looks certain to be the pick of the new recruits at Stamford Bridge and Alan Pardew says Newcastle watched him before Chelsea bought him.

Alan Pardew: “I didn’t need to speak to Yohan Cabaye about him.

“We know Eden very well. He played with Cabaye at Lille when we were watching him as well as Mathieur Debuchy who we have tracked.

“We know him very well. He’s a difficult player because if you get tight he will spin you like he did against Wigan last week.

"If you stay off him he will cut you open. He will be one of the stars of the Premier League and we will have to deal with him.

"But likewise Chelsea will have to deal with Yohan, Papiss, Demba Ba and everyone else.”
