Pardew Wants Capello To Look At Taylor

Alan Pardew says he does not want Fabio Capello's job ... but it seems he wants to pick his team. He has asked the England manager to take a closer look at Steven Taylor. Alan Pardew: “I haven’t had any indication that Steven has been watched, but I really think he deserves a place in the squad.

“He’s a little bit different to a lot of our players here because he is a Geordie and he represents the area.

“With that in mind, I think it would be nice for the England squad to have someone from this part of the world in it.

“More importantly though, I think he deserves it.

"Whether he’s a realistic contender or not, I just don’t know because I’ve had no communication from the England camp.”

Meanwhile, The Journal understands Pardew is pushing for the club to loan out Nile Ranger after his latest brush with the law. The club’s power brokers have blocked previous attempts to find the £1million-rated striker a new temporary club but there is an increasing feeling at St James’ Park that he needs to get out of the North East to give him a fresh start – both professionally and personally.

After progress on the training pitch in recent weeks, there was dismay that Ranger was in trouble again this week.

Peter Løvenkrands, however, will not be allowed to leave, despite his admission this week that he is looking for a new club after postponing contract talks.
