Fabricio Coloccini was seen as the quiet man of the team, but he wants to thank Alan Pardew for turning him into a team captain and transforming his career.

Coloccini, voted into the Premier League team of the year, is back home in Argentina having a well-earned break after what was an outstanding season on a personal level.

Fabricio Coloccini: “I have to thank the manager too for making me captain. Not only putting his faith in me on the field, but also giving me the responsibility to lead this club was huge for me and something I am looking forward to again next season.

“For now I am resting, enjoying time at home with my wife and family, so when we come back for training in July, I am refreshed, rested and most importantly, full of desire, commitment, enthusiasm and anticipation for the new season.”
