Pardew Preaches Confidence

Alan Pardew says the 4-3 extra-time defeat at Ewood Park on Wednesday hasn't damaged his confidence.

Alan Pardew: "The players know when they've performed badly and I don't think that was the case the other night, I thought we did enough to win the game.

"Three key decisions wrong, which we can show on video to our players, emphasises that, and it's rare for a referee to get that many wrong.

"We haven't lost confidence, we actually grew during the game and if anything it's probably put a bit of fire in our belly in terms of the manner of the defeat.

"It was only one late loss of concentration that's cost us, so we go into Stoke somewhat unscathed, although we're disappointed of course because we wanted to win that trophy, or have a good go at it."
