Pardew Praise For 'Super Sub'

There must be a lot of satisfaction for a manager when he knows things are not going right - he switches it - and the substitute makes the headlines for a win.

That happened to Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew on Saturday, when he intoduced midfielder Sylvain Marveaux and the Frenchman made an assist in Yohan Cabaye's winner against Wigan Athletic.

Marveaux came on for Gabriel Obertan on 77 minutes at St. James' Park, and three minutes later provided the assist for Cabaye to score the only goal of the game.

Alan Pardew: "I've been saying how Sylvain is a good player and he hasn't had the chance.

"He got a small opportunity and he showed he's a class act."
