Pardew: 'Players Will Try Harder Without Carroll'

02 January 2011 10:35
Alan Pardew faces up to life without Andy Carroll. Alan Pardew: "We're assessing him now. "He's such an important character in the group, so he's a miss. I'm not going to underestimate that. "But I think of 1990 when Ian Wright broke his leg at Crystal Palace, but we got through to the Cup final. "Everyone's got to pull their socks up and try that little bit harder. "You've got to come up with a way so that his exit from the side doesn'timpact the result. "I've got a clear mind on injuries. "I always think positively, and, hopefully, we're going to get good news. "Who knows when the recovery time will be? "They tell me he had an injury last year which was meant to keep him out for a long time and he was back in seven days, so that bodes well."
