Pardew Gave Up On Larsson In January

Alan Pardew said he lost interest in Birmingham's Sebastian Larsson when he refused to sign for the Toon in January. The Brum player knocked back the Newcastle offer because he had one eye on a Wembley appearance in the Carling Cup. He was available on a free transfer but Pardew made it plain the player did not interest him any more ... he had his chance but blew it! Larsson has revealed Steve Bruce's desire to bring him to Sunderland was a crucial factor in his decision to join the Stadium Of Shite club. The Swedish winger has agreed a deal with the Stadium of Light club and will officially sign on at the start of next month. Larsson: "I had other alternatives but it's great to sign with a club like Sunderland. "Steve Bruce showed he really wanted me and that's important. "Sunderland are building for the future and want to be better than last year."
