Pardew Fears Chelsea Flashing The Cash To Ashley!

15 July 2011 11:55
Alan Pardew has already been told by Mike Ashley he can forget any offer for Charles N'Zogbia because "he is out of our price range". Now the Toon boss has to sit tight and hope Chelsea don't go knocking on Ashley's door waving a wad of notes for Cheick Tioté! The Sun quoted Pardew, as saying: "We''re not a Liverpool or any of the clubs above them. We're competing on a lower level." And Chelsea know full well that Ashley is open to offers for any of Pardew's players. Due to his many eye-catching displays, Tioté has been linked with a summer move to clubs, such as Arsenal, Real Madrid and Chelsea. However, on February 25, 2011, Newcastle United announced that Tioté has penned a new six-and-a-half year contract to show his commitment to the club, keeping him at Newcastle until 2017. Upon signing his new deal, Tioté said: “The experience of playing in the Premier League has been better than I ever hoped it could be. This is a great club and the fans have been brilliant – I have never known support like it.” Tioté has continued to be linked with Chelsea, and Pardew expects the worst, despite the player insisting: "I'm only thinking about Newcastle United. "I am happy here. "I am only thinking about Newcastle United and focused on the season ahead with this club."
