Pardew Doesn't Want A Pat On The Back -

Alan Pardew paid tribute to Newcastle's fantastic team performance against Blackburn. Alan Pardew: “The (team) did excite me against Blackburn. The second half at Villa and on Saturday; the speed of some of our attacks and some of our passing and movement was very, very good. “We were good. I thought that our control of the game was probably the most pleasing thing. “Some of the speed of our attacks and some of our passing was exceptional – it was a very pleasing day. “I think its only fair that some of the games we’ve had this year, we haven’t threatened the goal enough. “Some of that was because we wanted to get a solid start and some of it is because some of our players are finding their feet in this division. “But they’re beginning to blossom and I think there’s real competition in all areas and that has armed me a little bit – one or two players have jumped up a level because of the competition around them. That’s what the big clubs should have. “The discipline of the team is important to maintain. “If we just keep our discipline at all times, we’re going to win more than we lose this year. Blackburn did a job on (Yohan) Cabaye and in doing so they left other areas of the pitch we can exploit. “We’ve shown we’re not just a one trick pony, we can deliver in other areas. I thought (Gabriel) Obertan was brilliant and so was Jonas (Gutierrez). In wide areas, we caused a lot of trouble. “I don’t have goals and ambitions to put in front of this team as it stands. “We’ve got Wolves to come and we want to go into that game and try and remain unbeaten. We’ll go from there. “I don’t think it’s a pat on the back for me or for anyone. That’s very, very dangerous and we talked about it after the game and at half-time. “It’s important to keep the disciplines we had before – the club’s in really, really good health throughout the club. The fans were brilliant and it’d be great to have a season where there’s a really good feeling about the place. “We’ve only just started and hopefully we can continue the feeling we had yesterday.”
