Pardew Defends Perch

Alan Pardew says that James Perch's reserve-team sending- off was an injustice. Alan Pardew: “James was a little bit unlucky in some respects. “The young Manchester United player went up to him and kicked him. He was obviously sent off. James just grabbed him, and asked ‘What are you doing, son?’. “He ended up being sent off. I thought the referee overreacted to it. I just wanted to give him a game.” Perch will be available for next Saturday’s home game against Wolves but will miss the subsequent fixtures against Aston Villa, Man United and Blackpool, while Ryan Taylor is now available for selection having served his own three-match ban.
