Pardew Blames The Board For Holding Back On Deals

Alan Pardew made a strange demand following Newcastle United's deadline-day disappointment ... by banning talk among his players of what might have been in the transfer window. Pardew had said before the window closed: “My job is to put options in front of the board who I think will take us forward. “Then it is a matter for the people who do the finance to get them here. “I’m not involved in that.” The Chronicle understands that there was an air of despondency at the club’s Benton base following the Magpies’ failure to land a new No 9 last week. Reading between the lines, Pardew seems to suggest Ashley could have done more than he did to bring in the new players, by trying to undercut EVERY deal. However, the Chronicle claims Pardew had words to say to the board after Wednesday's fiasco. Evening Chronicle: Pardew is understood to be “devastated” by United’s lack of progress in the window on the centre-forward front, and he has made it clear in no uncertain terms to his board that he was furious that United did not get the striker they wanted before the window slammed shut.
