Pardew admits transfer frustration

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew says he is desperately trying to bring in some new players before the transfer window shuts. The Toon have until 11pm on Wednesday night to bring in the players they need, with Pardew in particular keen to strengthen his front line after being forced to play Leon Best and Peter Lovenkrands in the 2-1 win over Fulham. Having so far only brought in Demba Ba in his quest to improve his front line Pardew is looking to make some last minute swoops, with Brest's Nolan Roux and Sochaux's Modibo Maiga reportedly on the Toon's radar.Newcastle are also thought to be after a new left-back following Jose Enrique's deapreate, with Dutchman Erik Pieters thought to be close to joining the club.Pardew says he is continuing to search for the right type of players to improve his squad and is confident some new faces will arrive at St James' Park before Wednesday's deadline."I am frustrated that we have not got a couple of bodies in yet," said Pardew, "Derek Llambias (managing director), Lee Charnley (club secretary) and Mike Ashley are as frustrated as me. Hopefully we will get over the line this week. "There's nothing to update, we are at a point where in a few days we will know for sure what we have." He added: "You can't disguise the fact that, in a week we lost Joey after losing Jose Enrique, we needed people to come out of the pack. Gabriel Obertan and Sammy Ameobi are doing that and I think Leon Best did that here. But we need reinforcements. I am not going to disguise that. We need reinforcements."
