Pardew - '50-50 Decisions Should Favour Striker'!

15 February 2013 12:51
Alan Pardew has criticised the officials who took charge of the Premier League side's Europa League draw with Metalist Kharkiv on Thursday after the Magpies saw two goals disallowed for offside.

Alan Pardew: “ Fundamentally they (the officials) have got them wrong, in a tight game like that.

"In these games they are the margins.

"I can understand if they get it wrong once but twice is hard to take.

“The law says it should favour the striker.

"Both decisions were level - I wouldn't even say that they needed to favour the striker. It's hard to take.”

The goalless draw however means that Newcastle’s long run of scoring at home in European ties has come to an end.

Previously, the North East side had netted in their last 14 home fixtures in continental competition, dating back to 2004, when they drew 0-0 with French side Olympique Marseille.
