Owen sets return date

Michael Owen is hoping to be back in contention for Newcastle by the middle of March.[LNB] The England international is targeting a trip to Hull City next month as a possible date for his return to action.[LNB]The 29-year-old striker has been sidelined since suffering ankle ligament damage in the Magpies' 2-1 defeat by Manchester City on 28th January.[LNB]He is making steady progress in his rehabilitation, though, and is edging closer to a first-team return.[LNB]"I'm right on schedule for a mid-March return," Owen told Newcastle's matchday programme ahead of Sunday's game with Everton.[LNB]"After I damaged my ankle ligaments three-and-a-half weeks ago the specialist said it would be six weeks to recovery, and that's exactly what it looks like being.[LNB]"It should be full training for me by the start of March and, hopefully, fully fit and available again for the game at Hull City on 14th March.[LNB]"With the injured lads getting back to fitness the picture can quickly change. What's important is that as many players as possible return to a winning team firing on all cylinders."[LNB]
