Michael Owen is primed to make his comeback from injury in Newcastle United's crunch clash at Hull City on Saturday. The England international has missed the club's last five matches after suffering an ankle ligament injury in January. Owen has been back in training since the start of last week and caretaker manager Chris Hughton is relishing having the experienced marksman back to spearhead the club's battle against the drop. Hughton also has the likes of Nicky Butt and Damien Duff back for their trip to the KC Stadium, although it is striker Owen that has the club's caretaker boss purring with delight. "Michael, Nicky and Damien are all in the squad but we haven't decided what part they play," stated Hughton. "Michael will be involved. "The decision on the team will be left until tomorrow, but Michael has had a good week-and-a-half's training under his belt. It's a massive bonus to have him back. "He has trained very, very well and it is a massive bonus to have him back. We will wait until nearer the game before deciding if he starts or not. "But it's important that he stays fit because he will be a huge player for us this season. Not only is he the club captain, he's a terrific character and is very popular around the place."
