Owen was released by Manchester United this summer after three years at Old Trafford which were scarred by injury problems.
And, despite playing just 10 games since January 2011, Stoke want to take a chance on him.
Manager Tony Pulis recently admitted an interest in Owen, and Stoke will appeal to Owen because the ground is barely 30 miles from his plush Manor House Stables complex ... and racing has always been his 'first love'.
Allegedly Everton are after him, but being a former Liverpool AND Man Utd player makes it open to debate.
