Nolan Wants Barton To Join Him At West Ham

They were the backbone of Newcastle's promotion back to the Premier League ... and now Kevin Nolan wants his old pal to help West Ham bounce back to Premiership glory. West Ham are set to reignite their interest in Joey Barton, according to reports today, and no-one would be more delighted than Nolan. The East Londoners are monitoring the situation regarding the controversial midfielder, who has yet to sign a new contract at Newcastle. The Championship side discussed a move for Barton earlier this month, when the Magpies first made it clear earlier that they had made him available on a free transfer. At the time, the Hammers’ interest in the player is said to have been described as “lukewarm”. Barton would have to accept a massive cut in wages currently said to be in the region of £60,000-a-week. Kevin Nolan: "I am loving my time at West Ham. This is a massive club and I would recommend the place to anyone. "Me and Joey are best mates, and I have been watching his 'Twittering' with interest. "He is a character, we all know that, but he is also a great player. "Whether he stays at Newcastle, I don't know. That's a question you need to ask him." Sam Allardyce’s side are one of the favourites to bounce straight back up to the top flight and won 4-0 at Watford last night.
