No Love Lost Between Taylor And Wigan

He's put the odd nail in our coffin, but Ryan Taylor wants to do the same against his old club Wigan Athletic tomorrow.

Taylor used to be a real thorn in United’s side, netting four goals in four Premier League matches and putting in some top performances in Wigan colours against the Magpies during his stint at the DW Stadium.

Taylor is not the best defender at Newcastle, and some could argue Pardew has kept new £4.8m signing Davide Santon on the bench because of the threat Ryan poses with free-kicks.Ryan Taylor: “John Carver, Steve Stone and I will stay out there quite a while working on free-kicks.“They give me the keepers’ strengths and weaknesses and where to put free-kicks.“You have to practice these things if you want them to come off on game day.“There’s nothing that would give me greater pleasure than sticking one in for the home fans tomorrow.“It would be nice to balance it up a bit – but I don’t think I can score four in one game! One would do to go with a win – it’s not about me scoring, but it would be nice.“It’s just weird the way that happened.“There aren’t many who can say that, it was so weird, it was all down to Shay Given letting them in!“But it would be nice to get that slate clean with the whole four in four thing and reverse it.“I can only do that by scoring tomorrow to start with, if selected and it would be nice to do it at the DW too.“When there is anything that comes around the box or there are any free-kicks, people are screaming ‘shoot’!”“I now know exactly what that goal against Sunderland meant. It’s all coming together nicely.”
