The future of Butt had been in doubt because his current deal runs out at the end of this campaign.[LNB]Newcastle United manager Joe Kinnear said: "I'm delighted to have Butty on board for another year. He's a great lad and has plenty of experience which we need at the minute.[LNB]"He has been raised the right way in the game and we will certainly benefit from having him around."[LNB]The 34-year old Butt has played in 138 games for Newcastle since he left Manchester United in the summer of 2004 and has scored five goals since he switched clubs.[LNB]Meanwhile, Newcastle defender Steven Taylor has had a dig at Charles N'Zogbia following his departure to Wigan.[LNB]"We need players who want to be here now," Taylor said.[LNB]"Charles didn't want to be here and he's gone. He wanted to go, fair enough.[LNB]"Now we have to get on and battle. There are new signings here now so we can get on with it.[LNB]"Everybody who is here at the moment is up for the fight. We are in a bad situation at the moment – it's a relegation fight – and what we need is players who are 100 per cent committed, not players who want to play one week, then don't fancy it the next.[LNB]"We are happy with what we've got and we can see light at the end of the tunnel."[LNB]
