News Of The World - The Paper That Ruin's People's Lives!

Andy Carroll says he did nothing wrong after the News Of The World newspaper claimed drugs were taken into team-mate Kevin Nolan's home. As all Toon fans know ... that newspaper has a past history of stirring the shit on Tyneside. They created the infamous "Toongate" with Dastardly and Muttley (Fat Fred and Dougie) and tried their hardest to spread some dirt on Alan Shearer, but found out he really IS the hero the Geordie always said he was. But ... they don't let the truth get in the way of a good story down there in 'News Of The World Land'. Oh no. Andy Carroll is the guy everyone wants to know about these days, he shifts papers, and this particular newspaper just has to get in on the scene and plaster him on the front pages. Does it matter if the story is a load of shit? Not to the News Of The World it doesn't! The News Of The World claimed the 21-year-old and his captain Nolan went out into Newcastle city centre after the Magpies' 5-1 win over Sunderland last Sunday, and were said to have celebrated with jubilant fans at Baby Lynch in Collingwood Street and the Tup Tup Palace nightclub in St Nicholas Street. In the early hours of the morning, the pair returned to Nolan's Ponteland home where Carroll is a lodger while awaiting trial in January over an assault charge. It is alleged three women, named in the paper as being from South Shields, returned with them, and one of them had the Class A drug cocaine. But yesterday, Nolan and Carroll publicly denied any knowledge of the drugs being on the premises. NUFC statement: "The club notes the story in the News Of The World and has passed the matter to its legal advisers. "Nolan and Carroll categorically deny having any knowledge that drugs had been brought on to the premises, and are pleased the paper does not even allege that they were aware of the presence of drugs. "Neither player would ever contemplate taking drugs, or condone the use of such substances. "The club and the players named are sure that if the editor felt his story had any truth he would already have reported this to the police. "The club and the players named will be happy to co-operate fully with any police investigation." Northumbria Police confirmed that they are not investigating any incident at Nolan's house on the weekend of October 31. A spokesman said: "We have not so far received a complaint about this matter. "We always take reports of this nature very seriously, and we will respond appropriately."
