Toon boss Pardew will swoop for the Tottenham hitman should he fail to land No 1 target Mevlut Erdinc, according to The Sun.
The Turkish ace has been on Newcastle's radar for the last month and they hope to seal a ?7million deal for the PSG forward when the Toon return from their USA tour on Thursday.

But should Erdinc's representatives continue to drive a hard bargain, Pardew will switch his attentions to ?10m-rated Defoe.
The 28-year-old's future at Spurs is anything but certain as Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp looks to shake up his strikeforce.
Pardew said: 'I'm not going to use the word "promise", it is a dangerous word. However, I am confident we will get a striker in.
'Plenty of fans have come out to see us and mentioned on more than one occasion to me, "Where's the striker?" It is not something that is far from my mind.'
