Jonas Gutierrez wants to leave Newcastle as he fears a season in the Championship will hamper his chances of playing at next year's World Cup. The Argentina winger, a £5.2million signing from Real Mallorca last summer, has been linked with a move to Greek side Olympiakos. The 27-year-old, who was on the radar of Italian giants Roma last month, told The Times:  'I want to leave Newcastle and go to a club which will give me the chance to fight for a place in my national team. 'I believe if I play well in the Champions League (Argentina boss) Diego Maradona is going to take a look at me.' Michael Owen, Habib Beye, Sebastien Bassong, Obafemi Martins and David Edgar have all left St James' Park since the Magpies were relegated.
