Follow Sportsmail's coverage of the Barclays Premier league as Newcastle host Tottenham at St James' Park to wrap up the weekend's action. Alan Pardew's side are unbeaten but Spurs are on a roll having won their last four games. Email me your thoughts on the game at dan.ripley@dailymail.co.uk or contact me on twitter @Ripinho.[LNB] Newcastle 2-2 Tottenham (4pm) Newcastle: Krul, Simpson (Santon 77), Steven Taylor, Coloccini, Ryan Taylor, Obertan, Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez, Best (Shola Ameobi 71),Ba (Ben Arfa 71).Subs: Elliot, Lovenkrands, Gosling, Marveaux. [LNB]Goals: Ba 48, Ameobi 86.[LNB]Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, King (Bassong 30), Assou-Ekotto, Livermore, Parker, Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart (Defoe 64), Adebayor (Pavlyuchenko 89).Subs: Cudicini, Giovani, Rose, Townsend.[LNB]Goals: Van der Vaart (pen) 40, Defoe 68.[LNB]Referee: Lee Probert (Wiltshire)[LNB]18.00: That result means Newcastle stay fourth and Tottenham stay sixth three points behind with a game in hand.[LNB]That's it from me thanks for following today and enjoy the remainder of your weekend.[LNB]17.59: Remember the first half? Nope, neither do I! A cracking second half which was exactly what I was expecting before the game.[LNB]A point for me is a fair result even though Spurs will be frustrated and not being able to hold on to the lead (twice).[LNB]Full-time: Newcastle 2-2 Tottenham[LNB]90+5min: I can barely keep up! It's end-to-end as attack follows attack with Newcastle increasingly craving a winner.[LNB]90+2min: Modric is booked for a foul on the left and the resulting free-kick pinballs around the Spurs box before Coloccini shoots wide. A forward would have buried it.[LNB]90min: Five minutes added on.[LNB]89min: Final sub from Tottenham with Roman Pavlyuchenko on for Adebayor.[LNB]88min: What a chance for Spurs! Defoe through on goal has his shot blocked but as the ball falls loose he hits a snapshot that Krul somehow parries clear.[LNB] Super sub: Ameobi equalised late on for Newcastle[LNB]86min: GOAL! NEWCASTLE 2-2 Tottenham[LNB]I really didn't think Shola Ameobi was capable of this. He receives the ball to the left of the penalty box and with Kyle Walker sliding in he somehow rifles an effort across goal that crashes into the bottom corner. He couldn't have hit it sweeter.[LNB]85min: The game becoming very stretched. Newcastle pressing for an equaliser but Spurs still very much interested on the counter. Such an improved second half.[LNB]83min: Newcastle win a free-kick on the edge of the box and as good as Ryan Tylor strikes it, Friedel punches it clear before Defoe scrambles the ball away.[LNB]81min: Tiote so nearly repeats his heroics against Arsenal last season! Obertan lays the ball back to him 25 yards out and he curls an effort towards goal that Friedel does well to tip over.[LNB]79min: Tiote picks up his customary booking as he trips Modric. I still feel another goal in this.[LNB]77min: Final sub from Newcastle as Davide Santon comes on for Danny Simpson.[LNB] Deadly Defoe: The Tottenham sub restored Spurs' lead[LNB]75min: It's taken a while but there is our first booking as Scott Parker takes none of the ball with his challenge on Ameobi.[LNB]72min: A double change for Newcastle. Shola Ameobi replaces Best while Hatem Ben Arfa is on for Ba.[LNB]71min: Defoe, clearly with the bit between his teeth now, latches onto a long ball over the top, but a goal-side Fabricio Coloccini forces him into an acute angle where he shoots wide into the side netting.[LNB]68min: GOAL! Newcastle 1-2 TOTTENHAM[LNB]Trademark Jermain Defoe. He receives the ball from Parker with his back to goal on the edge of the box, and in three touches he controls the ball and rifles a shot into the bottom corner. Krul no chance.[LNB]67min: Excellent from Krul. Scott Parker threads a through ball for Defoe but the keeper is off his line quickly to clear the danger.[LNB] Contested: Kyle Walker (left) and Demba Ba challenge for the ball[LNB]64min: Until now. Van der Vaart makes way for the England international.[LNB]62min: And now Tiote goes down. Walker is still hobbling on the pitch that has at least delayed Harry Redknapp's plans to bring on Defoe.[LNB]60min: A moment to catch your breath as Kyle Walker receives some treatment following a collision. [LNB]58min: Waste from Tottenham, Modric plays to the whistle as he keeps the ball in at the right flank, but after cutting inside he lays the ball back for Van der Vaart who shoots straight at Krul.[LNB]56min: Good effort from Gabriel Obertan. Bassong heads a clearance straight at him and as he advances a couple of paces fires a low effort just wide.[LNB]55min: Much better match this now. Tottenham starting to show some adventure and it's making for an open game, albeit one still in the hosts' favour right now.[LNB]52min: Better from Tottenham. Modric runs through the Newcastle midfield before chipping through Adebayor, who with a tight angle and under pressure drags a shot just wide across goal.[LNB]51min: As you were really, Newcastle remain on top and Spurs can hardly get out of their own half.[LNB] On fire: Deba Ba scored in his third consecutive game for Newcastle[LNB]48min: GOAL! NEWCASTLE 1-1 Tottenham[LNB]Brilliant from Jonas Gutierrez who cuts through the Spurs defence on the left before chipping to the far post for Demba Ba to slide the Toon level. Friedel catches it but unluckily is over the line when he does so.[LNB]Second-half: No changes for either side as Spurs restart proceedings.[LNB]16.59: In fact to make up for my bad call in the opening paragraph, I'm going to stick my neck out (again) and predict Newcastle will come back and win this. Spurs haven't been up for it.[LNB]16.55: As a spectacle thought that was dull, and this was the last game I thought would come under category.[LNB]I'm still confident the second half will be a lively affair, especially now Newcastle have to go for it.[LNB]16.51: Boos at half-time from the home crowd. Not for their team, who have arguably been the better side, but for referee Lee Probert after giving that penalty.[LNB]In fairness Probert's call was correct but this game is far from over.[LNB] Battle: Benoit Assou-Ekotto (left) goes in for a 50/50 challenge with Leon Best[LNB]Half-time: Newcastle 0-1 Tottenham[LNB]45min: One minute added on as Newcastle press the Tottenham defence again.[LNB]43min: Bit harsh on Newcastle that, but it hasn't deflated them as they win a free-kick on the left flank which Kyle Walker clears.[LNB] Keeping his cool: Van der Vaart sent Krul the wrong way from the spot to give Tottenham the lead[LNB] 40min: GOAL! Newcastle 0-1 TOTTENHAM[LNB]No doubts as Steven Taylor trips a sprinting Adebayor in the box and Rafael van der Vaart steps up to send Krul the wrong way from the penalty spot.[LNB]39min: PENALTY (Tottenham)[LNB]38min: No, Bassong gets his head to the cross as Spurs clear.[LNB]37min: And another corner as Kaboul heads a free-kick behind, third time lucky?[LNB]36min: The way this is going for Spurs they will take 0-0 at half-time. Newcastle look more dangerous as the visitors clear another corner.[LNB]33min: Is that our first shot...does it count as one? Cabaye fires miles over from 25-yards and I think that may be our best (only) chance of this game so far.[LNB] Early end: King limps off injured for Tottenham[LNB]30min: Injury concerns for Tottenham, nope not Bale, guess again...yes him.[LNB]Ledley King has trudged off and ex-Newcastle centre-back Sebastien Bassong replaces him. He doesn't get a warm reception from the home fans, let's put it that way.[LNB]28min: Bale has swapped with Luka Modric and is now on the left - but to no improvement. As the wingers starts another counter he is quickly shackled by Titote.[LNB]26min: And another free-kick for the hosts that is pumped into the box and headed away by Kaboul. Get that boy some headache tablets at half-time - he will need them at this rate.[LNB]25min: Newcastle, happy that Tottenham are offering nothing, take it up a gear and fire a couple of dangerous crosses into the Spurs box that Younes Kaboul heads clear both times.[LNB] Return: Former Newcastle midfielder Scott Parker (left) comes under pressure from Yohan Cabaye[LNB]22min: Plenty of the ball has been in the Tottenham half but in the possession of the visiting team. Newcastle inviting pressure and area dealing with everything thrown at them.[LNB]19min: Neither side have got going in attack. Adebayor has received hardly any service as the Newcastle defence is well on top.[LNB]Demba Ba looking lively for the hosts.[LNB]16min: Slight concern for Spurs as Bale is limping - looks like he can run that off but I will keep my eye on it.[LNB]15min: But for a lack of awareness from Leon Best, Newcastle could be ahead. Ledley King miscontrols an interception but the striker had given up on the ball, giving King the opportunity to clear up from his mistake.[LNB]The Irishman could have been through on goal there.[LNB]12min: First danger from Newcastle as Ryan Taylor's free-kick from the left flank is just too quick for any attacker to get a touch as Brad Friedel collects on his line.[LNB] Held back: Newcastle's Cheik Tiote (left) challenges Tottenham's Rafael van der Vaart[LNB]9min: Corner for Spurs but after going short, Rafael van der Vaart's eventual cross is cleared. A fair reflection on the game so far, some early promise but no real action as yet.[LNB]7min: Spurs probably just edge the possession but still there has been no threat as Tim Krul comfortably collects in front of a chasing Emmanuel Adebayor.[LNB]4min: Gareth Bale lines up on the right wing for Tottenham, but he has looked a bit lost early on. I think he has made three passes and given them all away.[LNB]3min: An open start as both sides string together some neat attacking passing moves. No chances yet though.[LNB] All smiles: Paul Gascoigne (left), who played for both clubs, watches on at St James' Park[LNB] [LNB] Kick-off: As Paul Gascoigne watches on, looking healthy I might add, Newcastle get us underway.[LNB]15.58: Players are out on a sunny afternoon in the North East. Plenty inside St James' Park to see this.[LNB]15.56: A big test for Newcastle this. If they defeat Tottenham today, plenty more people will stand up and take notice of just how good their start has been.[LNB]15.53: Harry Redknapp pre-match:[LNB]'It was a difficult one today. Jermain [Defoe] has been in good form, Rafa [Van der Vaart] has been great in his last two games and they both play off Adebayor, but I have gone with him. Jake Livermore comes in and he has great attitude and a great future and plays alongside Scott Parker.'[LNB]15.50: A win would be a massive fillip for either of these sides today. Should Newcastle take three points they will be four points clear of fifth placed side Liverpool.[LNB]A win for Spurs and they will go level on points with Newcastle having a game in hand.[LNB]15.47: Newcastle may be leading the hunt for a Champions League spot at this early stage of the season but that hasn't led to the board dreaming up pie in the sky signings. The club targeting 'trophies and not trophy signings.'[LNB] Count me in: Adebayor (right) shakes off a knock to start for Tottenham[LNB]15.44: Newcastle manager Alan Pardew keeps faith with the 11 men who started the win at Wolves last time out as Tottenham attempt to end their opponents' unbeaten start.[LNB]There are places on the bench for David Santon, Hatem Ben Arfa and the fit-again Shola Ameobi, with the Magpies looking to cement themselves in fourth place in the Barclays Premier League table.[LNB]Spurs boss Harry Redknapp makes just one change after striker Emmanuel Adebayor shakes off a hamstring problem to start, with Jake Livermore replacing Jermain Defoe.[LNB]15.41: The line-ups from St James' Park:[LNB]Newcastle v TottenhamNewcastle: Krul, Simpson, Steven Taylor, Coloccini, Ryan Taylor, Obertan, Cabaye, Tiote, Gutierrez, Best, Ba. Subs: Elliot, Santon, Ben Arfa, Lovenkrands, Gosling, Marveaux, Shola Ameobi.[LNB]Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Kaboul, King, Assou-Ekotto, Livermore, Parker, Modric, Bale, Van der Vaart, Adebayor. Subs: Cudicini, Pavlyuchenko, Giovani, Defoe, Bassong, Rose, Townsend.[LNB]Referee: Lee Probert (Wiltshire)[LNB]15.38: Ex-Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton on twitter:[LNB]Good luck to Newcastle today, hopefully they can keep their momentum going. #toonarmy[LNB]15.35: I'm going to stick my neck out here and suggest that this game is going to be a cracker. It's normally a strange event with two attacking sides that usually produce goals in parallel with comical defending.[LNB]But with the form these two are in, this should be the perfect way to round up the Premier League action this weekend. team news coming up.[LNB] Form man: Demba Ba has scored four goals in his last two Newcastle games[LNB]  We'll prove our top four credentials against Tottenham, says Newcastle boss PardewI've no problem with Rafa!
