Magpies might pick wantaway midfielder Moussa Sissoko against Terriers

Moussa Sissoko could return to contention for Newcastle in their Sky Bet Championship meeting with Huddersfield as he awaits a big-money move away from Tyneside.

The B#35million-rated France midfielder is back in training after an extended break following his participation at the Euro 2016 finals, and although he has made no secret of his desire to leave the club in the wake of relegation, he remains a Magpies player as no formal bid is on the table.

Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic serves the second part of a four-game ban carried over from last season, while goalkeepers Tim Krul and Rob Elliot both continue their recoveries from long-term knee injuries.

Summer signings Ciaran Clark and Mohamed Diame are also available for selection after sitting out the 1-0 defeat at Fulham last Friday, following their arrivals at St James' Park.

Huddersfield could welcome striker Nahki Wells back after knee trouble.

Last season's top scorer returned as an unused substitute in the midweek EFL Cup defeat at Shrewsbury and is available for selection.

Veteran midfielder Dean Whitehead serves the last part of a three-game ban, while Philip Billing (ankle) and Harry Bunn (hamstring) are sidelined.

Tommy Smith, Mark Hudson and Joe Lolley were rested in midweek and will be vying for recalls.
