Newcastle United v Leicester City - team news

31 August 2009 19:26
FABRICIO COLOCCINI is a notable absentee for Newcastle United tonight for the Championship date with Leicester City. But despite rumours circling that the defender is on his way to Fenerbahce before tomorrow's transfer deadline, the offical line from St James' Park is that he has been called up by Argentina. Coloccini's absence means that caretaker manager Chris Hughton has been forced to reshuffle his defence, with Steven Taylor the only recognised centre-back available. Striker Shola Ameobi misses out with a stress fracture in his foot, despite his claims that he was prepared to play through the pain barrier. NEWCASTLE UNITED: Harper; R Taylor, Simpson, S Taylor, Enrique; Geremi, Barton, Smith, Guthrie; Nolan; Ranger. Subs: Krul, LuaLua, Kadar, Ngo-Baheng, Tozer, Donaldson, Vuckic. LEICESTER CITY: Weale; Neilson, Hobbs, Brown, Berner; Gallagher, Wellens, Oakley; NGuessan, Fryatt; Howard. Subs: McGovern, Morrison, King, Dyer, Logan, Adams, Waghorn.
