Newcastle United return to Premier League

Chris Hughton's side, who host Sheffield United later this evening, had their return to the Premier League confirmed without kicking a ball after Forest dropped two points following their 0-0 draw with Cardiff at the City Ground.

Forest went into the match 15 points behind Hughton's side with five games remaining but can no longer catch them following the draw.

Meanwhile, Peterborough's one-year stay in the second tier has ended after their 2-2 draw at Barnsley.

Peterborough, who are expected to name Gary Johnson as their new manager on Tuesday, knew only a win would keep their season alive and will play thier football in League One next season.
