Newcastle United Medals Up For Auction

A collection of football medals awarded to Newcastle United's Frank 'Guv'nor' Watt is going up for auction. It's been valued at up to £6,000.

Watt was secretary of Newcastle United from 1895-1935.

Now nine of his medals, including The Football League Champions Division winners' medal 1926-27, are up for auction at a sale being held by Anderson and Garland on 4th December.

“The football medals belonging to Frank Watt are a fantastic piece of sporting history and NUFC fans will tell you how ambitious he was for the club, declaring on his arrival: "We are going to be the best team in the country"

£6,000 for a medal from Newcastle United's last title win back in 1927 seems loose change, considering the Premier League winner's medal presented to former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho (pictured below) sold for £21,600.
