Last season Nile Ranger made that heart-felt speech praising Chris Hughton: "Newcastle United and Chris Hughton have saved me from prison, because I would have ended up behind bars". The Toon striker has certainly seen his career hit rock bottom since the sacking of Hughton, and Alan Pardew admits he has thrown in the towel ... because he cannot do anything with the youngster. Pardew wants him out of the club, and he placed him on the transfer list at the end of last season. Ranger been bailed after being held over an assault that left a man unconscious. The 33-year-old victim was found outside Cosy Joes Pub, in the Groat Market in Newcastle, early on Saturday. During Mr Ranger's arrest after a search of the area, two police officers suffered minor cuts, Northumbria Police has confirmed. Mr Ranger was bailed on Saturday evening. The victim suffered swelling and bruising to the face. It was originally thought he had suffered a broken jaw.
