The 33-year-old victim was found outside Cosy Joes Pub, in the Groat Market in Newcastle, early on Saturday. During Mr Ranger's arrest after a search of the area, two police officers suffered minor cuts, Northumbria Police has confirmed. Mr Ranger was bailed on Saturday evening. The victim suffered swelling and bruising to the face. It was originally thought he had suffered a broken jaw. Ranger was brought up in London and he was involved in gang trouble at an early age, making several court appearances. He moved to Newcastle in July 2008 following his release by Southampton.
