Newcastle lose Krul to knee injury

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul could be out for up to three matches after injuring his knee, manager Alan Pardew revealed on Thursday.

The Dutch international sustained the injury during his side's 3-0 loss at home to Everton in the Premier League on Tuesday.

He has been ruled out of Saturday's trip to Southampton, with Rob Elliot due to deputise, and could also miss Newcastle's subsequent games against Manchester United and Stoke City.

"Tim won't play. He's out for these next two or three games for sure, so Rob Elliot will come in," Pardew said.

French striker Loic Remy is expected to return to training after a calf injury on Monday and full-back Davide Santon has recovered from a bout of tonsillitis, but right-back Mathieu Debuchy (groin) remains sidelined.
