Empoli stand between Newcastle United and a place in the knockout stages of the Viareggio Cup in Italy.

Newcastle beat a representative team from Congo 2-1 on Thursday thanks to goals from Alex Gilliead and Greg Olley, having lost to AC Milan by the same scoreline in their opening fixture two days earlier.

United must beat Empoli to be certain of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Viareggio Cup.

Defender Remie Streete has made his comeback from a hamstring injury in the tournament, which is staged near Pisa.

Streete suffered the problem on his return from a long-term ankle injury. The 18-year-old, tipped by first-team manager Alan Pardew to break into his squad, has missed almost a year of football.

Streete ruptured ankle ligaments in a reserve derby against Sunderland 11 months ago.
