Newcastle are weighing up a move for Ipswich wonderkid Connor Wickham as they look to replace Andy Carroll.
Carroll moved to Liverpool for ?35m on transfer deadline day and Toon boss Alan Pardew wants the 17-year-old England Under-19 striker to fill his boots.
Wickham has recently signed a new contract at Ipswich that runs until 2012 but the News of the World reports it will not putt Newcastle off making a bid for the young forward in the summer.
Only last week, Wickham impressed while on international duty with England Under-19s in a friendly against Germany
