Sochaux previously complained to FIFA over an illegal approach from Newcastle during the summer after claiming they had unsettled Maiga who later refused to play. The Mali international forward has since patched things up with his club and has scored four goals for the club this season.
L'Equipe newspaper are reporting the the 24-year-old will sign a four-and-a-half year deal with the Premier League club. Newcastle have been in good form this season and currently sit in fourth place while still unbeaten so far.
