Newcastle may have secured a key victory after a tumultuous week but Alan Pardew was not happy with the performance and the players' jury is still out on the new manager.[LNB]But Chris Hughton's replacement was not concerned by a frosty reception from the Toon army and insisted the whole club had supported him through his first couple of days.[LNB]Pardew said: 'There were a lot of things I didn't like. We will be working on some stuff that I would like to see in the team.[LNB] Let me make a point: Pardew has been quick to find fault with his team's display[LNB]'I am pleased with the result I'm afraid (rather than the players' reaction) because that is the business we are in.[LNB]'It is difficult I don't care who you are walking into an environment as big as this with this sort of following.[LNB]'There is a lot of pressure on myself and they [players and staff] made it easy for me.[LNB]'I thought the crowd's reception was OK. It was negative, I am not going to hide from that, but I understood that.[LNB]'They don't know me very well and I need to earn that trust and get that belief from the fans that I am doing the right thing.'[LNB]One of last night's scorers, Joey Barton, made it clear that Pardew still has work to do to get the team and crowd on his side.[LNB]'It's more about the lads and what we do,' the midfielder said when asked how impressed he had been with the manager.[LNB]'We spoke about it before the game. All the stuff going on around the club, the fans showing their discontent.[LNB]'The most important people at the club are the players and we have shown that and how together we are.[LNB]'On the back of a topsy-turvy week, which is being kind to it, we have turned in a magnificent display. The king is dead, long live the king.'  Hughton sacking 'stupid', blasts Newcastle United hot shot Carroll Patrick Collins: Chris Hughton is still a Newcastle United hero, not Batman and Robin upstairsChris Hughton set for speedy return to Sheffield UnitedNEWCASTLE UNITED FC
