Newcastle accept Liverpool bid for Andy Carroll

LIVERPOOL have just confirmed they have had a club-record fee accepted for Andy Carroll.[LNB] The Newcastle United striker is now on his way to Merseyside to conduct a medical and agree personal terms.[LNB] Newcastle are understood to have agreed a £35m offer for the England international, who will become the eighth most expensive player in the history of world football.[LNB] A statement on Liverpool's official club website said: "Liverpool FC confirmed this afternoon that Newcastle United had accepted a Club record offer for the transfer of Andy Carroll.[LNB] "The Club have been given permission by Newcastle to discuss personal terms with the player, who will now travel to Liverpool for a medical."[LNB] Full story, reaction and comment in tomorrow's Northern Echo[LNB]
