Newcastle roared back to the top of the Championship table and put the pressure back on closest rivals West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest.[LNB]Victory gave Newcastle a three-point lead over Bromwich and a cushion of five between themselves and third-placed Forest, who have played a game more than the top two.[LNB]Striker Andy Ccarroll again answered Newcastle's prayers with his sixth goal in seven games as they came from behind to maintain their unbeaten home record.[LNB] Handy Andy: Carroll scores Newcastle third goal[LNB]Clinton Morrison gave Coventry a 35th-minute lead courtesy of a scruffy finish for his 11th goal this season, but Newcastle summoned a rapid response two minutes later, Wayne Routledge registering his first goal since his £1.5million switch from Queens Park Rangers last month with a cracking volley.[LNB]Carroll, who salvaged a point at Swansea on Saturday, struck on 53 minutes last night, forcing in a close-range header following captain Kevin Nolan's cross.[LNB]Peter Llovenkrands then scored from a 70th-minute penalty his seventh goal in as many games after centre half Leon Barnett received a second yellow card and the red from referee Steve Tanner for bringing down Routledge.[LNB]Ryan Taylor added a fourth goal in added time, turning in a cross from fellow substitute Fabrice Pancrate.[LNB] Top and Taylor: Newcastle United's Ryan Taylor, top, fires shot past Coventry City's captain Stephen Wright[LNB]Newcastle manager Chris Hughton raved about Routledge, saying: 'What has is old-fashioned wing play. You're looking for crosses from him and it's a bonus when he comes up with a goal and it was an excellent one.'[LNB]But Hughton added: 'The standards we've set mean we're going to have highs and lows, and the last two away games losing at Derby and drawing at Swansea have shown us not at our best.'[LNB]Coventry counterpart Chris Coleman believes his side's undefeated five-match run was ended by the this season's Championship champions.[LNB]He said: 'I don't want to put pressure on Chris, but I don't see anybody finishing above them.'[LNB] NORTHERN EXPOSURE: Gibson warns of cost of Boro's failed Euro dreamNottingham Forest 1 Sheff Utd 0: Robert Earnshaw revels as Forest cut down Blades[LNB] [LNB]
